If you are going to be moving to a new home, you may be concerned with mold growth and what causes it. The unfortunate truth about mold is that it is quite common in most homes and very easy to grow. Mold can grow in places with plenty of moisture, which Georgia is known for in some locations. Someone that is moving to a different location in Georgia will most likely want to make sure that their home is in the best condition for living possible. Fighting the growth of mold will make sure that the woods and carpet in your home are in the best condition possible. There are many advantages to combating mold, but everything starts with identifying what causes it. So, what causes mold in a house? USA Family Moving and our Georgia movers take a closer look at the causes in the following article. Continue reading below to learn more.

What Causes Mold on Walls?

If there is one part of your home that you do not want mold to grow, it is your walls. Mold growing on your walls can lead to many different problems. Having an extremely advanced formation of mold could lead to issues with the infrastructure of your home, which is a problem for homeowners concerned with the safety of their homes. Further, having mold on your walls could lead to some respiratory problems, skin issues, and even headaches. The good news is that mold formation does not occur out of the blue. In fact, there are many things that you should look out for, and keeping an eye out for these things could go a long way to protecting your home. Our Georgia home movers detail more below:

Humidity

The primary cause of mold in homes is excess moisture and humidity. If you live in a particularly humid area, this could be the primary reason that you notice humidity forming on your walls. The easiest way to make sure that your walls are dry is to use a dehumidifier. This sucks out any moisture that is in your home. This appliance is especially useful when you consider that many places in your home will use plenty of hot water that could, unfortunately, accumulate inside your home and your walls. The more of these appliances that you have in your home, the more that you will need to use a dehumidifier.

Water Leaks

Water leaks are a cause of humidity for obvious reasons. This is, unfortunately, one of the most common causes of water leaks because they are easy to miss and extremely common, especially in older homes that do not have an updated gutter system.

What Causes Mold in AC Vents?

AC vents are places where humidity and water often congregate and, as such, are prime locations for mold to form. Since air conditioning is widely used during the summer months, it is often a location where condensation occurs because of the differences in temperature between the air conditioning unit and outside air. Further, older homes do not have the correct leakage systems to effectively take the water away from the air conditioning unit and into other areas of the home.

What Causes Mold on Shoes?

Mold could form on shoes that are made of materials that are conducive to mold growth. This includes leather and suede. Mold on shoes could be caused by stepping in puddles continuously or sweating in them excessively. If you do not take good enough care of them or dry them after they become wet, you run the risk of mold forming on them.

What Causes Mold on a Ceiling?

Mold formation on a ceiling could be caused by the same humidity that causes the formation of mold on walls. If you do not have a good gutter system during the summer months and allow the water on top of the roof to stagnate, you will invite the formation of the mold onto your ceiling.
