Packing is a daunting process- especially when it comes to packing those closets and drawers. Packing your clothes can be tough. Our Minneapolis movers can help you pack your clothes efficiently. We offer full-service moving that includes quality Minneapolis packing services. At USA Family Moving, our experience in packing gives us insights into the best way to pack your clothes. Follow these tips and you’ll be done in no time.

Go through your clothes first.

Cleaning out your closet is an important first step when it comes to packing. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t worn the piece of clothing in a year, you don’t need it. If it’s ripped, stained or damaged in some other way, this is a good time to get rid of it and replace it once you move. Once you go through your closet, don’t forget to do the same with your drawers. You can fit more in there than you realize. Get rid of clothes that have been sitting at the bottom untouched. Get rid of old socks, underwear, bras and undershirts that are stretched out. The less clothes you have means the less stuff you have to pack!

Don’t take your clothes off the hanger.

Yes, you read that right. Don’t worry about taking those clothes off the hanger. Invest in some garbage bags instead. We are not crazy- it’s an easy way to take your clothes from closet to moving truck with minimal effort. Take 6-7 hangers worth of clothes and push them together. Take a garbage bag and pull it up around the clothes while still hanging in the closet. Tie the bag around the hangers at the top, and voila- you are done! These easily transport to your car or moving truck.

Ask your movers if you can leave clothes in your drawers.

Some movers will allow you to pack up and seal your dresser drawers, so you don’t have to worry about packing those clothes either. If they don’t, make use of your suitcases instead of boxes. Your suitcases are great at fitting tons of clothes for vacations and business trips, so don’t move them empty.

Use your sweaters and jackets as filling in boxes.

Instead of wasting valuable suitcase and box space for just your jackets and sweaters, be creative. Take your more fragile items and use those sweaters and jackets as padding. You will save space and save money on packing paper and stuffing.
