Relocating can be a daunting process, especially during the month of May. There are so many details to coordinate including the packing process, scheduling your relocation with a professional moving company, and so on. Sometimes, people need storage solutions during the moving process for a number of reasons. If that’s the case, they should be aware of items not allowed in storage facilities, especially as “Crazy Tuesday” will be here before we know it!

If you need an affordable temporary or long-term storage unit for your belongings, our veteran-owned moving company can accommodate not only packing services and moving labor but storage solutions as well. In the meantime, our Minnesota movers share a little more about “Crazy Tuesday” as well as items that aren’t allowed in storage units.

What Is “Crazy Tuesday”?

“Crazy Tuesday” is the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Similar to Black Friday, where the demand for retail products skyrockets ahead of a busy shopping season, Crazy Tuesday marks the beginning of the busiest moving season so demand for moving and storage services increases as well. Customers are seeking affordable and secure storage units.

Things You Can’t Have in Storage Units

USA Family moving has available storage warehouses in Minnesota as well as storage facilities in Georgia that offer climate-controlled storage units. Although we can store numerous different things, several items are not allowed in storage units. Items not allowed in storage units include, but are not limited to:

Biological waste is any material that contains or has been contaminated by a biohazardous agent. Some examples include:

Storage facilities will not accept any dangerous or illegal items such as:

Flammable Items

Flammable items are not allowed in storage units due to the risk of a fire. For the safety of our employees, storage facility, and your belongings, these flammable items are excluded from our facility:

  • Gasoline
  • Grease
  • Kerosene
  • Motor Oils
  • Nail Polish Remover
  • Propane

Food or Perishable Items

Due to the potential for food spoilage or pests, food and other perishable items are not allowed in storage facilities.

Hazardous products can potentially leak or generate toxic fumes that can start a fire or poison someone. To ensure the safety of our employees, facilities, and your belongings, we ask that you refrain from storing items such as:

  • Anti-Freeze
  • Brake Fluid
  • Chemicals
  • Cleaning Solutions including Bleach
  • Mouse or Rat Poison

Wet Items

Although it is perfectly acceptable to store items that can be used in water, make sure your items in storage are dry to prevent mold and mildew.
